Get Involved with Washington PTA!

Picture
WASHINGTON NEEDS YOU!!
There are many opportunities for you to get involved to help make Washington a great school!
There are various ways, but a very important (and free) way to help is in the form of volunteering. You can help for just a couple hours or you can help all year long! Many of us on the PTA are working parents, so we contribute where we can. When we work together, even small things can make a BIG difference!

FACT VS. FICTION

“Fiction” #1:  “Washington PTA will be fine without my help- they’ve got lots of people!”

FACT: Washington PTA has a strong tradition of enriching our children’s learning experience with its many programs and events.  But, did you know these events are planned and organized by parents who are willing to volunteer their time and talents?  Volunteers are essential to keep Washington’s vibrant programming and activities going.  Without parent involvement and volunteers, the PTA simply cannot continue the programs and events that you and your children have come to expect at Washington.

“Fiction” #2: “I can’t volunteer if I work or have other children at home.”

FACT: Most PTA committee roles involve work that can be done according to your schedule and only some PTA roles require you to be present at a specific time for a specific event.  So, even if you have other children at home, if you work full or part time, if you have kids in different schools or if you are a stay-at-home parent, there is a role that works with your schedule!

“Fiction” #3: “I need special skills or qualifications to be on a committee.”

FACT: The only qualification to be on a PTA committee is to have a desire to contribute to your child’s school.  That’s it!  No special experience or talents are required!
