Get Involved!

Washington Elementary PTA programs are supported through fundraising and volunteer efforts. These efforts allow us to provide many additional resources to enhance the educational environment at Washington.  As schools are challenged to do more with less, please remember that the support our PTA provides makes a tremendous difference. Please help us continue to generously support the programs that make Washington Elementary such a wonderful place.

Join The PTA!

When you join the PTA you will become part of North Carolina’s oldest and largest volunteer organization advocating for the education, health, safety, and success of all children and youth while building strong families and communities.
We need you as part of our PTA!   Joining does not require you to volunteer.
It does give you a voice in the direction of our school, voting privileges and allows you to hold an office on our PTA Board.

The Annual Membership is only $5 for one person and $20 for a gold star family.

Volunteer!

The programs and services we offer depend on the wonderful efforts of our dedicated parents. Please sign up here if you would like to volunteer. The committee chair will contact you with more details. There are many opportunities to help, even if you are not available during school hours.

Participate in our Fundraisers

  • Shining Star Fundraiser (September-October): Each year we depend on this event to provide the majority of our budget. It does not require our children to sell products and 100% of the proceeds go directly to Washington’s PTA.
  • Corporate Matching Grants* (any time you make a gift of money or time to the PTA): Some companies will match employee financial donations, either monetarily or with equipment for the school.  Additionally, some companies will send money to Washington’s PTA when an employee or spouse has volunteered a certain amount of hours at the school.
  • Passive Fundraising (year-round): By linking grocery store rewards cards, patronizing Educational Funding Alliance members and collecting Box Tops and Campbell’s labels, you, your family and your friends can earn money for our PTA through normal daily purchases.
  • Wizard Wear (year-round): Show your school spirit (and raise a little money) by wearing school t-shirts and wristbands and placing a WES magnet on your car (or your child’s grandparent’s, aunt’s and uncle’s cars).
*Please take the time to ask your Human Resources person if such a corporate grant program exists at your place of business. Some of the local companies that offer grant programs of which we have been made aware include: GlaxoSmithKline, IBM, Cisco, Progress Energy, MCI, Time Warner Cable, Wachovia, Verizon, RBC Centura, CocaCola, Bank of America Foundation, and many others. For a complete list, please click here.

Detailed information about individual fundraisers is sent home during the school year. If you would like more information about these fundraisers, please contact Lindsay McCall @ lindsaywmccall@gmail.com
